Castilla La Mancha
This wonderful piece created by Atomic Arts and directed by Joel Marsden of Bus Producciones in Madrid for the Spanish Tourist Board, is intended to give the viewer a brief glimpse of the best of Castilla La Mancha (the Spanish region where Don Quixote was set). The idea was that the viewer would follow two characters in a video-game, hurtling through a collage of the Castilla landscape, first running, then cycling, then flying and finally swimming. To this end, thousands of photographs, taken throughout the region, were used as source material, initially being cut up to literally make collages as 'storyboards' for each scene.
Once these collages were signed off, we then created the main characters and their various environments and objects, all in 3d. Finally all the separate 3d sequences were pulled into the same world, to create a preternatural view of Castilla La Mancha.
